The 2018 Fountaine Pajot Helia 44 Evolution is a fiberglass catamaran built for extended cruising. At 43.5 feet in length with a 24.25-foot beam, it offers the stability and interior volume characteristic of the design. Two 80-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel saildrive engines power the boat, with recorded engine hours of 2,300 on the starboard unit and 2,000 on the port. A 3-foot-8-inch draft allows anchoring in shallow waters.
The interior comprises four cabins with one captain's berth and four private heads with separate showers. The main salon features panoramic windows, a fully equipped galley, and open-plan layout. Storage is distributed throughout the boat, and natural light reaches most living spaces. The cockpit is large and includes upper lounge and sunbathing areas, with an elevated helm station providing clear visibility. Access to the swim platform is straightforward.
Equipment includes a 2023 Onan 11.5-kilowatt generator, three solar panels, six air conditioning units, Raymarine Axiom chartplotter with repeaters, Autohelm with remote control, Starlink satellite router, VHF radio, AIS transponder, electric heads, and a Parker Village Marine watermaker installed in 2021. A Zodiac 10-person liferaft and blue underwater and courtesy lights are aboard. The boat carries 124 gallons of diesel and 198 gallons of fresh water.
Recent work completed includes a 2024 house battery bank, bimini and canvas, exterior cushions, stackpack, and EPIRB. Bottom paint and prop speed are due 2026, as are saildrive seals and o-rings. A water heater replacement is scheduled for 2025. The boat includes a 2022 AB 12VS rigid-bottom inflatable dinghy with a 15-horsepower Yamaha outboard motor. The mainsail features three reefing points; the genoa is roller-furling.
