The 2020 Leopard 40 is a three-cabin catamaran built in fiberglass with twin Yanmar diesel engines of 58 horsepower each. Its beam of just over 22 feet and overall length of 39 feet give it a spacious platform. The hull design incorporates increased volume and an abundance of windows and doors that open the interior to the surrounding deck areas, creating an unusually bright and airy feel for a boat of this size.
The layout follows an owner's version with three cabins and two heads distributed across the twin hulls. The galley sits forward-facing in front of a large window, with direct access to the forward platform. Aft, a settee and dining table are positioned to take advantage of views and natural light, separated from the aft cockpit by sliding glass doors. These large glass openings support cross-ventilation and keep the transition between interior and exterior living spaces fluid and open.
Equipment aboard includes a generator, air-conditioning, and a water-maker for extended cruising. Solar panels are installed for auxiliary power. The helm features an electric winch with foot-activator switch, and a custom stainless steel davit system with electric winch handles tender operations. The interior finish is ash white throughout.
