The Seawind 1600 is a 52-foot catamaran designed by the acclaimed Reichel / Pugh Yacht Design studio. Built with composite construction and engineered for both sailing performance and extended cruising, this 2023 model combines efficient hull design with practical systems engineering suited to bluewater passage-making.
Power comes from twin Yammer diesel engines of 160 horsepower each. The yacht carries substantial offshore capability including a 22 kWh lithium battery bank, approximately 2 kW of solar generation, and hydrogenerator power systems. Dual autopilots, dual watermakers, and a comprehensive communications setup including Starlink and satellite systems support extended voyaging. The boat is outfitted for global cruising with an extensive inventory of equipment and spare parts onboard.
The layout provides three cabins and three heads across the catamaran's 26-foot 6-inch beam. The yacht has completed major offshore passages including legs of the World ARC circumnavigation rally, giving real-world proof of both the design's capabilities and the durability of its systems in ocean conditions. The experience gained from this extended cruising has already identified and resolved early commissioning issues, with equipment upgrades made based on that offshore experience.
