The Seawind 1600 Passagemaker is a 52-foot performance cruising catamaran designed by Reichel/Pugh Yacht Design. Built from fiberglass with a beam of 26 feet 6 inches, it combines efficient hull form with advanced composite construction for both sailing performance and long-distance voyaging. Power comes from twin Yanmar diesel engines of 160 hp total, upgraded from the factory standard. The boat carries a full suite of sails including mainsail, jib, asymmetric spinnaker, and wingaker, with eight winches of which three are electric.
This example is extensively equipped for extended cruising. The power and water systems include a 22 kWh lithium battery bank, approximately 2 kW of solar panels, a Watt & Sea hydrogenator, and dual water makers—one Spectra Newport and one Rainman 140 L/hr. Communications are comprehensive, with Starlink RV internet and Thales Certus satellite systems. Dual independent autopilot systems are fitted, along with factory-installed air conditioning.
The three-cabin, two-head layout accommodates extended crew. Recent maintenance includes new zincs, bottom paint, and exterior detailing. A Carbon OC Tenders 350 sailing tender is included. The yacht has completed major legs of the World ARC circumnavigation rally, demonstrating the design's capability and systems reliability in ocean passages.
