The 2024 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 490 is a 49-foot cruising sailyacht built on an innovative full-length chine hull with a distinctive "scow bow" design. This eighth-generation Sun Odyssey features a hull form that maintains buoyancy forward while remaining efficient under sail, with the bow designed to rise slightly through waves rather than plunge. The hull displaces water outward, contributing to a drier motion in a seaway. A single 80-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine provides auxiliary power, with cruising speeds around 8.5 knots and a maximum speed of 9.5 knots.
