The Global Exp 68 is a 68-foot aluminum explorer yacht built for serious bluewater cruising. Designed by Damien and Manoel Chaves, it combines a rugged aluminum hull with a composite superstructure, creating a lightweight yet rigid platform capable of transoceanic voyaging. The raised pilot saloon and hardtop-covered central cockpit provide excellent protection and all-weather visibility. A hydraulic swing keel adjusts draft between 1.90m and 4.20m, enabling access to shallow anchorages while maintaining stability in open water. A Yanmar 4LV195 diesel engine with shaft drive and folding propeller, paired with a Sleipner bowthruster, handles engine maneuvering; North Sails with Profurl electric furlers and Harken powered winches manage the sail plan, delivering reported upwind speeds of 9–10 knots and off-wind performance exceeding 15 knots.
The interior spans four cabins and four heads arranged around the central saloon. Walnut joinery throughout provides upscale finishes, while the layout offers privacy with forward and aft owner's staterooms and guest cabins accessed via separate companionways. The engine room features standing headroom and dedicated ventilated technical spaces. Teak side decks and cockpit add durability and character to the working spaces.
Accommodation systems are comprehensive. A 24-volt DC electrical plant includes an 810 amp-hour lithium battery bank with Victron charger and inverter, backed by a 15 kW Kohler generator. A WV Watermaker produces 120 liters per hour. Fuel capacity reaches 2,640 liters; fresh water storage is 2,370 liters. Climate control comes via Dometic reverse-cycle air conditioning and Webasto diesel heating. The galley features a gimballed electric induction cooktop and oven with generous refrigeration and freezer space. Navigation equipment includes a B&G Zeus plotter suite at upper and lower helms, Halo radar, Triton autopilot, VHF, and AIS transponder. A tender garage at the stern incorporates a hydraulic crane for dinghy retrieval, with a drop-down bathing platform and boarding steps.
