The Shuttleworth 52 AeroRig is a new composite catamaran designed by John Shuttleworth and built to ABYC standards. At 52 feet long with a 32-foot beam, the yacht combines lightweight, high-performance materials—including Airex foam, epoxy, E-glass, Kevlar, and carbon fiber—with a clean, efficient design. The hull and structural elements employ these advanced composites to ensure durability without rot. Twin Volvo Penta 59-hp engines with Sail Drives power the boat, paired with feathering, adjustable-pitch stainless steel props and a 170-gallon fuel capacity split between two tanks. Electronic controls and an automatic fire suppression system round out the engine setup.
The AeroRig system defines the sailing experience: a freestanding, stayless mast with roller furling mainsail built by Forespar, reinforced with carbon fiber and Kevlar at stress points. Most sail controls operate from the cockpit via electric winch, making the yacht manageable for short-handed crews. A port hull daggerboard, controlled from the helm, aids upwind performance. Topside, a hardtop covers the cockpit and helm, while a stainless steel goalpost arch supports the traveler, dinghy davits, and railings. The bow includes dual trampolines, twin anchor windlasses with anchors and chain, a folding beaching ladder, and under-deck storage.
The interior centers on a salon finished in teak with a large settee and dinette to port, a centerline console for storage, and a spacious galley to starboard fitted with high-end appliances. Four cabin windows flood the space with natural light. Four staterooms and four heads serve the accommodations: aft cabins have queen berths, forward cabins offer doubles. Cabinetry is finished in metallic silver PPG with teak accents, padded vinyl wall coverings, Karadon countertops, and Berber carpeting. Lewmar Series 60 flush-mount deck hatches complete the detailing.
