The Helmsman 38 Sedan is a traditional trawler with a modern sedan profile, built on the proven design of its 37 Sedan predecessor. This fiberglass-hulled yacht measures 38 feet in length with a 13.75-foot beam. The hull features a full walk-around covered side deck on the Europa-style configuration. The design extends the transom aft by more than two feet compared to the earlier model, increasing both salon volume below and upper deck length for additional dinghy-carrying options while maintaining the generous cockpit.
Interior layouts are available in two main configurations: single or two-stateroom arrangements, each with options for salon seating and galley placement. All interiors employ teak and holly flooring with teak joinery throughout, accented by opening windows for ventilation. The upper deck accommodates six or more for entertaining and includes a standard flybridge control station.
The boat is powered by a Cummins QSB 6.7-litre diesel engine rated at 380 horsepower with electronic common rail control. Higher output ratings up to 550 horsepower are available as an alternative. Construction emphasizes thick deck sections, deep gel coat, sturdy railings, quality hardware, and substantial teak joinery paired with exceptional fit and finish. This combination of build quality and efficient propulsion is designed to minimize exterior maintenance and reduce operating costs.
