The Helmsman 43E Pilothouse is a second-generation evolution of the popular 43 Pilothouse, introducing refinements to the exterior profile, pilothouse roofline, and interior acoustic treatment. Built from fiberglass with proven construction methods and quality materials throughout, this 43-foot trawler combines a capable wide-beam hull design with practical, seaworthy features.

The distinctive low-rise pilothouse maintains an open connection to the salon while preserving excellent rear visibility from the helm. The full-beam main salon is expansive, with numerous large opening windows framing broad views and rich, classically nautical joinery. A day head adjacent to the salon provides convenient guest facilities, and the salon dinette and day head can be enclosed to form a private convertible guest suite. The master stateroom is generously proportioned with deep hanging lockers, storage shelves, drawers, and lockers. The second stateroom features a double berth, hanging locker, and additional storage.

Exterior design emphasizes safety and practicality: a high bow, midships boarding access, a large cockpit with full cover, deep pilothouse side-deck footwells, and wide flybridge stairs port and starboard. The spacious flybridge offers a choice of helm configurations—center helm with L-shaped settee or starboard helm with U-shaped dinette—while the large boat deck accommodates a dinghy and deck furniture. The entire upper deck is finished with a no-drip edge.

Power comes from a single Cummins QSB 6.7-liter diesel engine rated at 380 horsepower with electronic common rail controls. Construction quality is evident throughout: thick deck sections, deep gel coat, welded double-rung rails, quality hardware, and meticulous fit and finish. Teak is used selectively on the interior.
