1988 Tartan 31 Cutter Rigged Masthead Sloop

This 1988 Tartan 31 is a masthead sloop built on a fiberglass hull with a fin keel design. The boat carries an 18 hp Yammer diesel inboard engine, delivering cruising speeds around 5 knots with a maximum hull speed of 6 knots. The cutter rig and deep draft configuration provide strong upwind performance and seaworthiness in a manageable 31-foot package.

The interior layout includes two cabins and one head, with seating capacity for eight. The boat features an electric windlass for anchoring convenience and original joinery throughout. Recent refurbishment has included new manual head with updated hoses, new fresh water pump, and a complete lighting upgrade to LED throughout.

A comprehensive refit completed prior to the 2025 season addressed the standing, running, and lifeline rigging. New sail handling equipment includes an electric winch handle. The mainsail is four years old and the jib a couple of years old, both in excellent condition. New electronics comprise a Raymarine Axom 9 multifunction display, S/70 tridata, wind instrument with new transducers, AIS receive capability with transponder, and autopilot. Additional upgrades include new dodger, Bimini with extender, cockpit cushions, stainless cowls, and tri-mast light with strobe.

The hull gelcoat remains in very good condition with no major damage. Interior cushions are four years old and well-maintained. Woodwork throughout has been refurbished. Compression testing in November 2024 showed excellent results, confirming the engine is in strong mechanical condition.
