This 1989 Beneteau First 35 is a fiberglass sloop designed by Jean Berret for responsive sailing and coastal cruising. The hull features a steel wing keel and moderately light displacement of 11,460 pounds, delivering good upwind ability and manageable handling. A new 29-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine (supplied in crate, ready for installation) will power the boat, paired with direct shaft drive.
Below deck, the yacht accommodates four berths across two cabins, with a single head and practical galley featuring a three-burner propane stove with oven, electric and engine-loop heating, and a 12-volt refrigerator with freezer. The saloon includes teak and holly sole, mahogany joinery with marble countertops, and ample storage throughout. Headroom reaches 6 feet 3 inches, providing comfortable living space for extended voyages or weekend sailing.
The rigging is a 7/8 fractional design with swept spreaders, fully equipped for performance and cruising. A Facnor below-deck furler, four Lewmar self-tailing winches, and twelve rope clutches led aft support efficient sail handling. The sail inventory includes a Hood Vectron main with full battens and two reefs, multiple genoas ranging from 135 to 155 percent, and spinnaker options. An epoxy-coated bottom receives annual VC-17 re-coating, maintained as a freshwater boat.
Electronics include Raymarine autopilot and instruments (ST50 depth, speed, wind multi-display), Standard Horizon 7-inch chartplotter with Canadian charts, Furuno 1621 radar, and iCom M502 VHF radio. The electrical system features five new batteries, Heart Interface monitoring and inverter/charger, upgraded Balmar alternator, and LED lighting throughout. A pressurized freshwater system, hot water heater, and closed-circuit cooling complete the infrastructure. Exterior updates include updated canvas from 2024 and a NuTeak cockpit sole.
