1989 Island Packet 35 Center Board

The 1989 Island Packet 35 Center Board is a fiberglass cruising yacht designed for both shallow and deep water exploration. Its centerboard design offers flexible draft options: 3 feet 8 inches with the board up for coastal waters and the Intracoastal Waterway, and 7 feet 2 inches with the board lowered for offshore passages. Powered by a 35-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, it provides dependable propulsion for extended cruising.

Recent mechanical work includes a partial engine rebuild in 2024 with top-end reconditioning, injector service, valve replacement, and new hoses throughout. The heat exchanger was serviced, and the cutlass bearing and propeller shaft seal were replaced in 2023. The centerboard system was rebuilt with new brackets fabricated and installed with Kevlar line in 2024. Chain plates were updated in 2017, and the rigging was replaced in 2024.

The boat is outfitted with modern electrical systems including two 230-amp LiFePO4 house batteries, a dedicated starter battery, and complete Victron power management components: inverter, charger, Cerbo GX touchscreen, DC-DC charger, and MPPT solar controller. Navigation features a Raymarine Evolution autopilot, multifunction display, AIS, and radar. An arch supports solar panels, wind generator, antennas, and davits, all installed between 2019 and 2024. Interior updates include new cushions in the salon, cockpit, and V-berth, plus refreshed light fixtures.

Equipment includes a Rainman watermaker rated at 24 gallons per hour, Honda generator, and a 2022 Highfield 290 Ultralight dinghy with 9.8-horsepower motor. Safety gear comprises a 4-person Viking life raft, inflating dan buoy, lifesling, auto-inflate personal flotation devices with one featuring a ResQLink personal locator beacon, EPIRB, and Iridium Go satellite communicator.
