The Com-Pac 27-2 is a 27-foot shoal-draft cruiser with a design that balances classic aesthetics and capable sailing. The hull is fiberglass with a shoal fin keel and spade rudder, allowing shallow-water operation and responsive handling. The underwater shape features a long waterline relative to the boat's length and a rounded bottom for comfortable motion at sea. An 18-horsepower Westerbeke diesel inboard powers the boat efficiently with modest fuel consumption.
The interior is well-appointed with teak throughout, including a teak and holly sole. The main cabin offers 6.8 feet of headroom with a V berth in the forward stateroom and four sleeping berths total—the forepeak double plus port and starboard settee berths with storage beneath. A hanging locker and drawers provide stowage in the forward cabin. The L-shaped galley sits on the port side opposite a spacious head with vanity, sink, mirror, and opening port. A bi-fold table stows away to reveal shelving, and opening ports and deck hatches throughout ensure good ventilation.
Equipment includes a mainsail with Dutchman flaking system and a furling 135% genoa with roller furling gear. Navigation and helm systems comprise a Ray Marine suite with depth sounder, knot meter, wind indicator, and autopilot, plus a VHF radio and binnacle compass. Wheel steering, self-tailing winches, and a traveler simplify sail handling. The galley has a two-burner LPG stove and microwave; the boat runs on hot and cold pressure water from a 50-gallon tank and a marine head with holding tank. Dual 12-volt batteries power the electrical system, supported by 30-amp shore power and a 110-volt charger. A dodger, Bimini top, and cockpit shower are fitted, along with a swim platform and stern rail with lifelines.
This spring the hull received three coats of epoxy water-barrier paint followed by fresh antifouling paint. The boat includes a six-pad steel cradle and is equipped with safety gear, fenders, dock lines, and anchoring equipment.
