2003 Hallberg-Rassy 46

The 2003 Hallberg-Rassy 46 is a fiberglass center-cockpit cruising yacht measuring 48.5 feet, built by the respected Swedish shipyard as production number 194. Designed by German Frers and certified for unlimited ocean voyages, this boat combines the robust construction and seakindly performance the builder is known for with a thoughtful layout suited to extended blue-water sailing. A 100-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel engine with approximately 3,800 hours powers the yacht, with a cruising speed around 7 knots and maximum speed of 8.5 knots. The center cockpit configuration, protected by a hardtop, allows comfortable handling for one or two crew members. The vessel features new standing rigging installed in 2025 and a refreshed deck—the original teak has been removed, epoxy-treated, gel coated and painted.

The three-cabin interior is finished in solid teak with light fabrics throughout. The master cabin occupies the aft with a double berth, while forward and amidships guest cabins each hold double berths. The main saloon features a navigation station to port, an L-shaped sofa with fold-down dining table, and a well-organized galley to starboard with two fixed armchairs. Headroom in the master cabin reaches 1.97 meters. Two heads serve the accommodation, each with a shower. The boat includes air conditioning, a washing machine, dual refrigeration units with seawater cooling, and a Webasto diesel heater.

The systems reflect continuous upgrades for extended cruising. A 24-volt AGM battery bank (installed 2024) combines with 600 watts of solar panels, a Victron controller, and a 4-kilowatt diesel generator. The water maker produces 130 liters per hour with new membranes from 2023. Fresh water capacity is 900 liters; fuel capacity is 900 liters across two stainless steel tanks. Navigation electronics include a Raymarine E125 chartplotter, i70 instrument package, dual VHF systems, ICOM SSB radio, AIS, and radar. The rig is a Seldén three-spreader sloop with hydraulic reefing, furling genoa, a 130-square-meter code-zero, and new main and genoa sails from 2016. Additional equipment includes a 33-kilogram Rocna anchor with 100 meters of stainless chain, bow thruster, electric windlass, spinnaker pole, and bowsprit. An AB Inflatables tender with 9.9-horsepower Yamaha outboard is included. The 2024 engine work replaced the turbo, manifold, and exhaust elbow.
