This 2006 Gunboat 48 is a carbon and Kevlar composite catamaran designed by Morrelli & Melvin. One of only six built between 2004 and 2009, it was developed as an owner-operator platform for serious cruising and short-handed sailing. The hull construction uses epoxy foam sandwich with Nomex aramid honeycomb, paired with carbon daggerboards and retractable carbon fibre rudders that allow draft adjustment from 0.60m to 2.20m.
The three-cabin, three-head interior accommodates an owner's suite aft and VIP cabins forward, with the main deck featuring a protected helm station and pilothouse galley overlooking a spacious shaded aft cockpit. A new interior was fitted in 2013 by Riskas Snickeri, the builder used by Nautor Swan and Baltic Yachts. Windows and glass were renewed in 2019. The rig was upgraded in 2010 with a taller wing-mast by Marström, and standing rigging was replaced in 2022. Current sails include a North 3Di main and jibs from 2011, a One Sails main and J2 from 2023, and a new unused Code Zero and spinnakers.
Propulsion comes from twin 40 hp Lombardini diesel engines. Systems include twin autopilots, B&G navigation with plotter, HD radar, AIS and night-vision camera, Lewmar electric winches, and Karver and Harken deck gear with self-tacking jib and low-friction battencars. Power generation comprises a 2,100w solar array, lithium-ion service batteries, a Victron inverter, and a watermaker producing 80 litres per hour. Onboard amenities include diesel heating, fridges and freezers, and electric heads. A carbon davit carries an Aquapro dinghy with Suzuki 6 hp outboard.
