2023 Balance 482

The 2023 Balance 482 is a carbon-constructed performance catamaran measuring 48 feet with a 26-foot beam. Twin Yanmar 4JH45 diesel engines deliver 90 horsepower each, supported by dual fuel tanks and comprehensive engine systems maintained to Yanmar standards. The yacht features carbon composite daggerboards, a Sparcraft aluminum mast with single spreader, and a complete sail inventory from Ullman including mainsail, jib, screecher, asymmetrical spinnaker, and Code D—all controlled by electric furlers and Harken winches with wireless remote capability.

Below deck, the owner-configured layout includes three cabins and two heads finished in oak cabinetry with solid wood veneers. The salon features a walnut table that converts to a berth, while accommodations include queen-size memory foam mattresses, electric toilets, 200 gallons of water storage, and air conditioning throughout. The galley is equipped with a Miele induction cooktop, combination microwave oven, two refrigeration drawers, dedicated freezer, and a 54-liter-per-hour watermaker.

Power and redundancy are central to the design. The 48V house bank holds 600 amp-hours of Victron lithium batteries charged by dual Integrel E-Power systems and six 400-watt solar panels. Navigation and communication systems include dual Raymarine Axiom 12-inch multifunction displays, VHF, Quantum Doppler radar, AIS, autopilot with wireless remote, and Starlink integration. An Iridium satellite system provides backup communications.

The yacht has been sailed approximately 9,000 nautical miles including an Atlantic crossing. Recent work includes new halyards and sheets, replaced lazy jacks, mainsail reinforcement, and fresh antifoul applied in September 2025. An extensive spares package covering engines, watermaker, electrical systems, rigging, and ground tackle is onboard. A carbon tender with 20-horsepower outboard is included.
