The 2011 Back Cove Downeast 37 is a fiberglass cruiser built with Maine shipwright tradition and modern marine engineering. Its modified-V planing hull is designed for stable, efficient performance in offshore conditions and delivers a comfortable 24-knot cruise with a top speed of 30 knots. A single Cummins QSC 8.3 diesel engine producing 600 horsepower powers the boat, paired with a bow thruster for easy maneuvering in tight spaces. An Onan 9.0 kW generator supports onboard systems.

The interior follows a two-stateroom layout with a forward master cabin featuring a center-line island queen berth and storage, plus a guest stateroom to starboard. The galley-up salon configuration keeps the cook engaged with the saloon and offers 360-degree visibility through large windows. An L-shaped settee with a high-gloss inlaid table provides dining and lounging space, finished in ultraleather. A spacious head compartment includes a circular stall shower.

Climate control throughout is handled by a dual-zone reverse cycle heat and air conditioning system. The helm station is fully equipped with integrated navigation, autopilot, and engine monitoring systems. The large open cockpit features aft-facing seating, a transom door, and a wide swim platform.
