The 2016 Leopard 48 is a fiberglass catamaran built for extended cruising. This model spans 48 feet with a 25-foot beam, providing the stability and volume characteristic of the design. Power comes from twin Yanmar diesel engines of 114 horsepower each, supported by a 9kW Northern Lights generator. The yacht carries four cabins and four heads, suited to cruising with family or guests.
Recent work has been extensive. The standing rigging was replaced in 2025. The engines received full service along with replacement of the starboard heat exchanger. Both four-blade Max Prop folding propellers were serviced and adjusted. The bottom was treated to an epoxy barrier coat followed by five layers of paint. The hull also underwent regular cleanings. Thru-hull fittings were replaced as needed, and a new main halyard was installed with a spare provided aboard.
Power and water systems reflect cruising priorities. A 1200-amp-hour Relion lithium battery bank pairs with a Victron Quattro inverter-charger and battery monitor. Solar panels totaling 1500 watts mount on a custom stainless arch. Fresh water systems include a new pump and tank gauges. A SeaWater Pro water maker and Acuva Arrow UV purifier provide independent supply. A new hot water tank and replaced shower pump complete the water infrastructure. Three soft-start air conditioning modules and a 50-amp shore power upgrade support comfort systems.
The boat carries substantial equipment for self-sufficiency. The galley features an induction cooktop, a 7-cubic-foot Isotherm refrigerator-freezer, an additional Isotherm unit in the aft cockpit, and a Breville combi microwave. Navigation includes a Vesper device at the chart station with US and Caribbean charts installed. A Rocna Vulcan 40 anchor is attached to 300 feet of 10mm galvanized chain. A 2024 Highfield tender with a 30-horsepower Tohatsu outboard is included, recently serviced. Onboard spares include extra propellers and engine filters. A Samsung 43-inch television occupies the saloon, with a 42-inch screen in the master cabin.
