This 2017 Ranger Tugs R-27 is a 27-foot fiberglass trawler built for extended cruising. Powered by a single Volvo D3 diesel engine rated at 220 hp with a new short block installed in 2024, the boat cruises at 12 knots and reaches 15–16 knots at full throttle. A folding mast enables trailering, and the design includes bow and stern thrusters with remote control, Bennett trim tabs, and a Lewmar Pro Series windlass with foot switches and helm controls.
The accommodations sleep four across a practical layout. Forward is a vee berth with privacy curtain, followed by an enclosed head with shower and electric toilet. The main cabin features the helm to starboard with single-lever controls and full instrumentation. Aft of the helm sits a dinette to port with convertible seating that faces forward or aft and sleeps two. The galley to starboard includes a two-burner Force 10 stove with oven, a 12V refrigerator, Corian countertops, and hot and cold pressure water. Varnished teak cabinetry and composite teak sole complement the interior throughout.
The electronics suite centers on Garmin equipment: a 200 VHF with 800 AIS transceiver, 7612 radar and GPS with 4kw HD dome and depthsounder, autopilot with remote, and a rear-facing camera. AC and DC power systems include 4 AGM Group 31 batteries installed in 2024, a 2000w inverter-charger, 50-foot shore power cord, and a 5-gallon Isotherm hot water heater. A Webasto air conditioning and heating system with remote control maintains cabin comfort. The boat is wired and plumbed for a generator, though none is currently installed.
The exterior features a maroon gelcoat hull with black bottom painted in 2024, bronze thru-hulls, and a self-bailing fiberglass cockpit with non-skid decks. A 2018 maroon canvas enclosure with screens and an original toast-colored bimini top protect the fold-down teak cockpit seating. Additional equipment includes a swim platform with ladder, Manson Supreme anchor with chain and rode, solar panel with monitor, an 8-foot-6-inch roll-up dinghy with davits, and a comprehensive list of safety and navigational gear.
