2023 NEEL 52

The Neel 52 is a fiberglass trimaran designed for extended ocean cruising, combining the open living spaces of a multihull with the sailing performance and upwind ability of a central hull. At 52 feet by nearly 29 feet in beam, the design achieves a cruising speed of 6 knots and a maximum speed of 9 knots under its single 110-horsepower Yammer diesel engine. The three-hull configuration provides stable motion in rough seas and allows for efficient solo or short-handed sailing, with all primary controls—electric winches and sail lines—centralized at an elevated helm station.

Accommodations comprise five cabins and four heads. The owner's quarters feature a two-level master suite with private head and office. Guest cabins include two large doubles, one smaller double or large single, and a forward bunk cabin; two of the four heads include separate shower stalls. The distinctive "Cockloon" merges the cockpit and main saloon through large folding doors, creating a unified indoor-outdoor living area flooded with natural light.

Systems and equipment support autonomous cruising and live-aboard life. A 100-liter-per-hour watermaker with remineralization provides drinking water. Power comes from 920 ampere-hour lithium house batteries charged by 1,930 watts of solar panels and two alternators, backed by an 11-kVA generator. The central hull houses a dedicated engine room with walk-around access to the Yammer, watermaker, and battery banks, plus generous storage throughout the deep hulls. A full-size washer and dryer occupy a separate laundry room. Reverse-cycle air conditioning with individual temperature control serves all living areas. Navigation electronics include dual Garmin B&G ZEUS 3S multifunction displays, AIS, radar, autopilot, and sonar, plus Starlink connectivity. An electric bow thruster aids maneuvering. The boat includes a 3.6-meter Highfield RIB tender with 30-horsepower outboard and an electric lift with remote-controlled cradle on a dedicated aft platform.

The engine has been recently antifouled and reportedly has low hours. This boat has completed a two-and-a-half-year circumnavigation crossing the Atlantic, Caribbean, Marquesas, French Polynesia, New Zealand, and Fiji, with documented upgrades and maintenance throughout its service life.
