This 2023 Rapido 60 is a custom-built carbon composite trimaran designed by Morelli & Melvin and built by Triac Composites. Launched in October 2023, the boat was configured around a sailing philosophy of ease of handling, offshore capability, and reliability. At 11.8 tonnes, it weighs roughly half that of performance-oriented catamarans of similar length, translating to superior efficiency and the ability to make ground safely in demanding conditions. The 60-foot length and nearly 39-foot beam create a stable, wide footprint on the water, with the outer hulls providing shock-absorbing dynamic dampening that reduces roll, pitch, and yaw.
Performance and comfort work hand in hand. Under full sail in 18 knots of wind, the boat reaches approximately 25 knots; with two reefs in the main and the jib unfurled, it settles into a steady 12 knots. The design allows crew to maintain this gentler pace without sail changes even if a 35-knot squall arrives, enabling confident night sailing. The boat sleeps four adults and two children comfortably and was configured throughout with livability in mind: copper sinks and taps, timber finishes in the galley and saloon, textured materials and wallpapers that move away from typical production-boat aesthetics, and warm, tactile detailing that creates a home-like environment rather than a showroom feel.
The cockpit is deep and well protected, set far from the rails, making it safe for children underway. Storage, power, and comfort systems are designed to support extended passages to remote locations. A single Yanmar diesel engine of 57 horsepower supports the sailing rig and provides auxiliary propulsion when needed. The boat is ready to sail and capable of handling anything from light-wind cruising to blue-water passages.
