The McConaghy Panther48 is a 48-foot electric hybrid catamaran built around lightweight design and sustainable performance. At 26.42 feet in beam, the yacht combines a full carbon mast and boom with three sails—fully battened mainsail, headsail, and flying sail—for strong sailing capability. The electrical architecture centers on a 48-volt system powering the electric propulsion, winches, windlass, and high-load equipment, with a separate 12-volt system for navigation and auxiliary features. Solar panels across 95 square meters of deck area supplement a 62 kWh battery bank; under pure battery power at 5.7 knots, the yacht achieves approximately 1,000 nautical miles of range, extending well beyond 1,800 nautical miles with solar contribution. At 7.5 knots motoring, the system draws only 16.11 kilowatts total, and regeneration while sailing captures up to 2.09 kilowatts.
The design prioritizes ease of handling with a single power winch forward of the mast, two aft winches, and a self-tacking headsail paired with a line-driver system that permits tacking without leaving the helm. The boat features a carbon fiber longeron with integrated anchoring bridle, easy-to-operate daggerboards, and a chain-driven autopilot suitable for single-handed or short-handed operation. Navigation relies on a comprehensive B&G system with two 12-inch touchscreen displays.
Interior spaces are finished in satin black with carbon accents, lightweight floating furniture, and grey soles throughout. Every cabin has overhead hatches and portlights; the saloon opens to the weather via two forward flush hatches, side ports, an aft sliding window, and saloon door, creating bright and airy accommodation. A 5kW Quattro inverter charger powers the three-burner induction hob and convection microwave, with 110 and 230-volt outlets and USB-C charging ports distributed throughout.
Outdoor spaces include plush sundeck cushions on the foredeck and a generous aft cockpit sheltered by cabin-top overhang, with lounge seating to port and dining to starboard. The package includes a McConaghy RIB tender with Mercury 7.5e electric outboard.
